  • A painting of a baby plesiosaur and its mother, a common marine reptile during the Jurassic Period. Scientists in Antarctica found the fossil remains of a baby plesiosaur, killed and preserved by a volcanic eruption. The fossils date to the late cretaceous age (70 million years ago), when ancient reptiles like this roamed the seas. Painted in Acrylic and digitally composed for the National Science Foundation.
